Seed Potatoes

One of the great joys of mid-winter is sitting down with seed catalogues and deciding what to buy. New varieties of seeds, old favourite seeds. Masses of choice and not enough room to grow them all!

Traditionally seed potatoes are ordered just before Christmas for despatch in the New Year – through to late spring.

JALGA have special arrangements with Jamiesons one of the UK’s largest suppliers of certified seed potatoes, saving you ££’s. However, the special savings are only available through the Association. If you order online you will be paying the full retail price shown + carriage.

The links below are a guide to varieties [pdf download]. For a copy of the JALGA special price list to accompany the guide, please contact your Allotment Group Committee or your site Supplies Co-ordinator.

Please note: The guides do not show every variety available from the supplier. Those that have been omitted are either due to lack of 2011 stock or are regarded by JALGA as generally unsuitable for growing in Jersey.

Potato Blight
This is a very serious fungal disease of potatoes. JALGA members have a duty of care to Jersey’s commercial growers and are rfecommended to download our blight fact sheet.
